I started something new with the recent launch of “Taming Monsters with Dirty Rotten Bill.” My new podcast focuses on writers, illustrators, designers, and other artists who “create through the chaos,” as a friend of mine put it. In the first episode, I caught up with thriller writer Chris Bauer; we talked about his latest novel, I HEARD YOU PAINT COWBOYS, his Philly roots, and the terrible things he does to his characters (most of whom deserve their fate). In the second, I sat down with Daniel Sean Kaye, a writer, illustrator, and professional good guy who does more to help other people than anyone I’ve ever met. Check out these two (and all future episodes) through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or just be lazy and click here. As for the provenance of the name Dirty Rotten Bill, it’s a nickname I earned from the days when I played bass for a punk/metal band in Philly. One of my favorite bands back then was D.R.I. (short for Dirty Rotten Imbeciles), and everything in my sphere became Dirty Rotten This or Dirty Rotten That. Naturally, when it came time to choose a stage name, Dirty Rotten Bill I became and have been (to a limited few) ever since.
